What is the difference between the models: Mr Beam II, Mr Beam II dreamcut and Mr Beam II dreamcut [S] and the Mr Beam II dreamcut [x]?
-
The Mr Beam II was the very first model from the Mr Beam Kickstarter campaign and was in the range until October 2019.
The model was replaced on November 1st, 2019 by the further developed Mr Beam II dreamcut, which was enhanced by various optimizations such as e.g. B. can cut the compressor smoke-free and faster. Thicker materials such as laserable plywood are also suitable for cutting.
On October 1st, 2021 we launched the new laser head "Mr Beam II dreamcut [S]". All dreamcut customers can easily upgrade their device by purchasing the laser head and thus cut and engrave much faster. From October 1st, 2021, all bundles and singles sold via the Mr Beam Shop will be equipped with the new [S] head as standard.
From March 15, 2023, the new [x] head was added. This is a 10W laser head that cuts twice the output in the same time compared to the [S] head. Here, too, all dreamcut customers can simply buy and upgrade the laser head. The Mr Beam II dreamcut [S] and the Mr Beam II dreamcut [x] are now sold in the Mr Beam Shop.

What's new about Mr Beam II dreamcut [x]?
-
The [x] head is a 10W laser head. This means it has twice as much power as the [S] head. You can find more information in the FAQs on the product overview page.

What distinguishes the Mr Beam II dreamcut [S]?
-
The new laser head has been installed in the Mr Beam as standard since October 1st, 2021. What's new, and how is it different from the Mr Beam II dreamcut?
Thanks to the improvement in dreamcut technology, the laser beam focuses better on the new dreamcut [S] laser head. It therefore enables faster material processing than the previous model. The size of the focus point is 0.15 mm, whereas it was 0.2 mm in the previous model. The material can be processed better and faster thanks to the more precise focusing - the cutting line is also particularly narrow and clean when the laser beam is correctly focused. The new air duct ensures that the air is sucked in from above and blown out from below. This prevents rapid soiling - the dirt particles are blown significantly less through the entire laser head than in the previous models.
By the way: The Mr Beam II dreamcut [S] consumes just as much electricity as the previous models. -
Does the Mr Beam have AirAssist?
-
An Air Assist - as is often available as an accessory with other laser cutters - helps to avoid traces of smoke on the cut. There is also a second, positive effect: the additional oxygen at the focal point helps to reduce the production of toxic carbon monoxide. Carbon monoxide is odorless and therefore particularly dangerous. At Mr Beam, we attach particular importance to the safety of all our users - which is why this useful Air Assist function is built into all of our dreamcut laser cutters as standard. No additional installation by the user is required.
-
Is the Mr Beam certified?
-

I have read that the follow-up costs (main filter) are very high. Is that correct?
-
The Mr Beam can optionally be used with an Air Filter System. We recommend it to every user who operates the Mr Beam indoors. In order to be able to use the Air Filter System, both the pre- and the main filters have to be replaced regularly. Depending on the material, the filter fills up more quickly or more slowly. It is therefore essential to check the filter regularly. We recommend checking and, if necessary, changing the pre-filter at regular intervals and preferably even before the software display reaches 100%, so that the main filter is better protected. When the pre-filter is no longer pink, it's time to change it. If this does not happen, the air seeks a direct route via the main filter, which then fills up faster than expected. Unfortunately, this then leads to the above-mentioned high costs and short service life of the filter. It also depends very much on the material, which clogs the filter, so we can only show an average value in the software. For example, if a lot of wood/finboard is cut and engraved, the filter fills up much faster than when processing e.g. B. slate or felt. However, the use of the air filter is not a must. There is an alternative to discharging the exhaust air out of the window. There is the possibility to buy a fan in our shop to turn the "bundle" into a "single". The fan is then inserted into the elbow between the housing and the hose - this option is, however, significantly louder than the air filter and is only recommended if there are no direct neighbours nearby who could complain about the exhaust air and volume.
